Karen and Bernadette introduced the topic of Simulation and Modelling which whether we know it or not, we have pretty much all experienced in some way or another…mainly through games!
Part of our task was to use the elements on the left hand side and bottom of the screen to create a suitable habitat for a Panda.
When you selected certain items, a pop up bubble could come up and give you a hint, or snippet of information about that item and its effect on the pandas!
To navigate the site, not only was information provided in small chunks (in the pop-up bubbles) but was accompanied with audio catering for many times of learners.
Any technical terms were linked to a definition which I found useful.
I enjoyed the task so much as I was learning and was not conscious of it at all! I was having fun, exploring my own knowledge and integrating new knowledge and the program facilitated that.
This is definately a resource I would like to explore further in the classroom as I was so impressed with it. (Feel free to click my Panda Habitat Image to take you to the website)
Later within that same tutorial Paul confirmed for us the keyboard shortcuts to take screen shots on both a PC and Mac.
PC: Control + f4 – take an image of the whole screen including the task bar
Alt + PrtSc (print screen) – take an image of the current window
Mac: Command + Shift + 4

Hey Amy! Which program did you use? I’m on the lookout for useful programs! It looks like it would appeal to the children. Ellie
